Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Flaw Detector for Pipe Ends

A fluorescent magnetic particle flaw detector for pipe ends is a specialized non-destructive testing (NDT) device used to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities—like cracks, seams, or inclusions—on the ends of pipes, especially in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, and heavy manufacturing.

How It Works:

  1. Magnetization: The pipe end is magnetized using either a yoke, coils, or head shot methods (circular or longitudinal magnetization).
  2. Application of Magnetic Particles: Fluorescent magnetic particles, suspended in a liquid carrier, are applied to the surface.
  3. Detection Under UV Light: Under ultraviolet (UV-A) light (typically ~365 nm), the fluorescent particles gather at leakage fields caused by surface defects, making the flaws highly visible.
